DRENCH. | Painting, Decorating & Panelling

Last updated: October 2026

1. About DRENCH.

DRENCH. provides professional painting, decorating and bespoke wall panelling services across Kent, Surrey and London, operating from Kings Hill, Kent.

These Terms & Conditions explain the basis on which DRENCH. provides its services. By accepting a quotation and instructing DRENCH. to proceed, you agree to the applicable terms, subject to your statutory rights.

2. Quotations and Scope of Work

Quotations are based on the information available at the time of inspection or assessment and will outline the agreed work, price and any relevant exclusions.

Quotations are valid for 14 days. If no validity period is specified, please contact DRENCH. to confirm that the quotation remains valid.

Only the work specifically described in the quotation is included. Any additional work or changes to the original specification must be agreed before proceeding and may incur additional charges.

3. Deposits and Materials

DRENCH. may request a deposit in advance to cover materials required for a project, particularly where materials need to be ordered or purchased specifically for the customer.

The deposit amount, what it covers and when it is payable will be communicated to the customer before the deposit is requested.

Deposits must be paid by the agreed date to allow the necessary materials to be purchased and the project to be scheduled appropriately.

Where the final cost of materials differs from the deposit paid, the difference will be reflected in the final balance or otherwise agreed with the customer.

If a project is cancelled, any deposit will be accounted for fairly, taking into consideration materials purchased or committed for the project, work already undertaken, any applicable cancellation rights and amounts lawfully due. Any refund due will be dealt with in accordance with applicable law.

4. Payment Terms

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment for the completed work is due upon completion of the agreed project.

Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash.

Any materials deposit already paid will be taken into account when calculating the outstanding balance.

Where additional work has been agreed, the cost will be included in the final invoice or separately invoiced as agreed.

Any applicable VAT will be identified clearly in the quotation or invoice.

If payment is not made when due, DRENCH. will contact the customer to arrange settlement. Any recovery of overdue payments will be undertaken in accordance with applicable law.

5. Preparation and Existing Surfaces

DRENCH. will carry out the preparation included in the agreed quotation. This may include sanding, filling, cleaning, priming and other appropriate surface preparation.

The condition of existing surfaces can affect the final finish. Older paintwork, uneven walls, previous repairs, damp, cracks and loose coatings may affect appearance, adhesion and durability.

Extensive plaster repairs, structural repairs, damp treatment and specialist remedial work are excluded unless expressly included in the quotation.

If additional issues are identified, DRENCH. will discuss the options and any additional costs with the customer before proceeding.

6. Painting, Decorating and Panelling

DRENCH. provides services including interior painting, decorating, feature walls, woodwork painting and MDF wall panelling.

For panelling projects, the quotation will specify the agreed design, materials, dimensions, installation and finish as appropriate.

Customers are responsible for approving designs, measurements, colours and finishes before work proceeds.

Changes to an approved specification may affect the cost and completion date. Any additional charges will be discussed and agreed before the additional work is undertaken.

7. Materials, Colours and Finishes

The quotation will state whether materials are included in the agreed price.

Customers should confirm their chosen colours, paint brands and finishes before work begins. Colour samples are recommended because lighting and surrounding colours can affect how a shade appears.

Where customers supply materials, DRENCH. cannot be responsible for defects or performance issues arising from unsuitable, defective or insufficient materials supplied by the customer.

8. Customer Responsibilities

Customers agree to:

  • Provide safe and reasonable access to the areas where work is to be carried out.

  • Ensure the necessary utilities are available where reasonably required.

  • Remove or protect valuable, fragile and personal belongings.

  • Make the working areas accessible and move furniture where possible, unless this has been included in the quotation.

  • Inform DRENCH. of known issues such as leaks, damp, hazardous materials or concealed services.

  • Keep children, pets and other occupants away from work areas, tools, materials and wet paint.

  • Confirm colours, designs and other necessary decisions in a timely manner.

If the working area is not ready or access is restricted, the project may need to be rescheduled. Any resulting additional costs will be discussed with the customer.

9. Scheduling, Delays and Completion

DRENCH. will make reasonable efforts to complete work within the anticipated timescale discussed with the customer.

Start and completion dates are estimates unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

Delays may arise from unforeseen surface conditions, additional work, material availability, illness or other circumstances outside reasonable control. DRENCH. will communicate relevant delays and discuss any necessary changes to the schedule.

The work will be considered complete when the agreed scope has been carried out, subject to any outstanding agreed items or concerns that need to be addressed.

10. Cancellations and Rescheduling

DRENCH. requires at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Customers should provide notice as soon as possible by contacting DRENCH. directly.

Where less than 24 hours' notice is given, DRENCH. reserves the right to discuss any reasonable, evidenced and legally recoverable costs incurred as a direct result of the late cancellation or rescheduling. No automatic cancellation fee will apply unless it has been clearly agreed in advance and is lawful and fair.

For larger projects, cancellations may also involve materials already purchased or committed specifically for the customer's project. These costs will be considered fairly and in accordance with applicable law.

If DRENCH. needs to cancel or reschedule an appointment, the customer will be informed as soon as reasonably practicable and an alternative arrangement will be discussed.

Statutory cancellation rights: Where a contract is agreed online, by telephone or at the customer's home, a statutory cancellation period may apply, including a 14-day cooling-off period in applicable circumstances. Specific requirements may apply where the customer asks for work to begin during that period.

The 24-hour notice policy does not replace or restrict any statutory cancellation rights. Any request to begin work during an applicable cooling-off period will be handled in accordance with the relevant legal requirements.

11. Care of the Property

DRENCH. will take reasonable care when working in the customer's property and use appropriate protective measures for the areas included in the project.

Customers should remove or protect personal belongings and valuables before work begins and advise DRENCH. of delicate surfaces or items requiring special protection.

Any concerns about damage allegedly caused during the work should be raised promptly so that the circumstances can be assessed and an appropriate resolution discussed.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

12. Workmanship and Aftercare

DRENCH. aims to provide a professional finish through careful preparation, attention to detail and quality workmanship.

If you have concerns about the completed work, please contact DRENCH. promptly with details of the issue and photographs where helpful.

DRENCH. will review the concern and, where appropriate, arrange an inspection and discuss a reasonable resolution.

The durability of painted surfaces and panelling can be affected by moisture, temperature, everyday use, underlying surface conditions and maintenance. Normal wear and tear, accidental damage and pre-existing defects are not the responsibility of DRENCH. unless applicable law provides otherwise.

Any separate workmanship guarantee will apply only where its terms have been provided and agreed in writing.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

13. Health and Safety

DRENCH. reserves the right to pause work if conditions are unsafe or potentially hazardous materials are identified.

If suspected asbestos, lead-containing coatings or other hazardous materials are encountered, work in the affected area may be suspended pending appropriate assessment.

Specialist testing, removal and remediation are excluded unless separately agreed with an appropriately qualified provider.

14. Photography and Marketing

DRENCH. may wish to photograph completed projects for its portfolio, website and marketing materials.

Customer privacy will be respected. Photographs identifying a customer, their belongings or their property will only be used with appropriate permission.

Customers may decline photography without affecting the agreed service.

15. Complaints

DRENCH. aims to resolve concerns professionally and fairly.

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the work, please contact:

Email: jack@drenchinteriors.co.uk

Please explain the issue and provide any relevant photographs or supporting information. DRENCH. will review the complaint and seek to agree an appropriate resolution within a reasonable timeframe.

Nothing in this section restricts a customer's statutory rights.

16. Privacy

Personal information provided to DRENCH. will be used for legitimate business purposes, including responding to enquiries, preparing quotations, arranging work and processing payments.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection legislation. Please refer to the separate Privacy Policy on the website for further information.

17. General Terms

These Terms & Conditions should be read alongside the accepted quotation and any written variations agreed for the project.

If a project-specific agreement conflicts with these general terms, the agreed project-specific terms will take precedence for that matter, subject to applicable law.

If any provision is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to applicable mandatory consumer protections.
